Percell Ross Blakely, of Covington, stole property from 62-year-old Andres Valenzuela before shooting him on Main Street in New Rochelle, NY on Oct. 14, 2021, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah said.

The New Rochelle Police Department arrested Blakely on Oct. 17, 2021. He was indicted by a Westchester County Grand Jury for first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and weapons offenses. He was arraigned on June 2, 2022, and held without bail.

A GoFundMe launched by Valenzuela's daughter said he had been finishing work the night his life was "cruelly taken." Funds raised would help return his body to his native country, Mexico, the campaign said.

The case is before Judge Anne Minihan in Westchester County Court, and is being prosecuted by Senior Trial Counsel Brian Bendish and Assistant District Attorney Catalina Blanco Buitrago.
